Ever since Derek Green broke from tradition to find a way of brewing a gluten free beer, here at Green’s we do things alternatively. It’s through being alternative, and brewing beers from ancient grains, that back in 2003 led to the discovery of the first European gluten free beer – Green’s Discovery Amber.
Green’s Amber was ‘The Original’ – the first Green’s gluten free beer to be produced – and remains as popular today as ever.

Green’s Amber also happens to be naturally gluten free and suitable for vegetarians. Not only fuller in flavour, these ancient grains offer beers higher levels of protein, calcium and vitamin B than barley based beers.
It’s through a complex brewing process, using ancient grains in place of the usual wheat and barley, that Green’s unlocks long forgotten flavour profiles to deliver a great tasting amber ale, proving that going against the grain tastes good.
At 6.0% abv, this is an all-round beer to savour, whether with lunch or as a thirst-quencher after an evening meal; Green’s Amber is versatile and will complement many dishes. We recommend pouring into a goblet glass and serving with a hearty chicken Sunday roast or sipping as an evening tipple, accompanied by a mature cheese board.
